Brent Edstrom received a bachelor of music degree in classical piano performance from Washington State University and a master of music degree in jazz studies and contemporary media from the Eastman School of Music. Edstrom's active performance career has placed him on stage with many well-known performers, including Clark Terry, Ron Carter, Ernie Watts, Lee Konitz, John Clayton, Jon Faddis, Bob Berg, Bob Mintzer, Dee Daniels, Freda Payne, and Peter Erskine.
An active composer, Edstrom's chamber compositions have been featured at festivals including the International Trumpet Guild, Southeast Horn Workshop, International Tuba Euphonium Conference, and Boise Horn Workshop. In 2007 he premiered a 45 minute concerto for piano and orchestra with the Coeur d'Alene symphony.
Edstrom has published extensively including transcriptions and arrangements of the music of Art Tatum, Bill Evans, Kenny Barron, Oscar Peterson and many others. He completed several new publications, including: "Musicianship In the Digital Age" distributed nationally by Thomson, and "Bill Evans Signature Licks," "Hard Bop For Piano," and "Latin Jazz Piano," distributed by Hal Leonard Publishing Corporation. Edstrom has been involved in numerous projects for film and television including arranging and synthesis on the award winning public television movie “Carolina Preserves.”
